Stage of sperm develpoment
At all stages of differentiation, the spermatogenic cells are in close contact with Sertoli cells which are thought to provide structural and metabolic support to the developing sperm cells.
A single Sertoli cell extends from the basement membrane to the lumen of the seminiferous tubule, although the cytoplasmic processes are.

The temporal course of spermatogenesis
Spermiogenesis is the final stage of spermatogenesis, which sees the maturation of spermatids into mature, motile spermatozoa. The spermatid is a more or less circular cell containing a nucleus, Golgi apparatus, centriole and mitochondria.
All these components take part in forming the spermatozoan.
Spermiogenesis
Description:Sinauer Associates ; Search term Spermatogenesis While the reductive divisions of meiosis are conserved in every eukaryotic kingdom of life, the regulation of meiosis in mammals differs dramatically between males and females. The differences between oogenesis, the production of eggs, and spermatogenesis, the production of sperm, are outlined in Table Spermatogenesis is the production of sperm from the primordial germ cells. Once the vertebrate PGCs arrive at the genital ridge of a male embryo, they become incorporated into the sex cords.
