‘ Oscar Nominated Short Films: Animation’ Review – Variety
Description:This short was okay, but it really isn't one of my favorites. I hope I will find him again someday so our youngest ones can continue to enjoy the tale and pass it on. My brother and I would watch this over and over when we were younger. Ahh, Morris the Midget Moose, this was shuffled with The Mail Dog as far as reissues were concerned, and both cartoons got their credits mixed up in reissue, but anyway the open and end bits seem to have been recycled from Bootle Beetle, which gives this a dead giveaway that this was directed by Jack Hannah, as a matter of fact, the climax with Thunderclap is actually quite genius, Paul Smith did a nice job at it too, but yeah the story isn't really that special or fantastic, let alone perfect, it's sort of pedestrian in a way, and i sure don't get the ending with Bootle Beetle playing on the Two Heads better than One saying, it's just drives me to bewilderment, and it's kind of WTF in a way, Sure not that great of a cartoon, but not bad either, for the record this makes it mediocre by definition at least for me. It has been our family's favorite Disney short feature for decades and gets quoted all the time. I just wanted to share this memory with everyone. Especially with the nonsense coming out of present-day's cartoons, how can you not appreciate and enjoy this Disney Classic Short?
