Description:Lubricating eye drops, such as artificial tears or eye ointments or gels, and eye patches are also effective. Bell's Palsy is a peripheral nerve effect whereas a ischemic stroke is a central process. A diagnosis of Bell's palsy is made based on clinical presentation -- including a distorted facial appearance and the inability to move muscles on the affected side of the face -- and by ruling out other possible causes of facial paralysis. However, there have been some discrepancies with the use of this method including differences in observations when using single and multiple needles as well as the areas of where the needles are placed. Facial muscles often respond to emotional influences by these pathways also. Case presentation A year-old Asian Indian man with a medical history of hypertension presented with nausea, vomiting, generalized weakness, facial droop, and slurred speech of 14 hours' duration.
